Week of Water Fun!

Hi, Everyone! So sorry I haven't blogged for a while but Mama, Dada and I were on vacation and Mama was having too much fun to blog. So I thought I'd catch you up...

So, we started out our vacation in La Quinta, our favorite vacation spot! We spent the holiday weekend at Tutu and Sir's condo and had lots of fun. But it was really, really hot so I we thought it would be fun to take our first swim of the season. Here are Dada and I on our way to the pool...
Remember my cool pool floatie? Well it still fits! This time, though, I kicked and kicked in the water and had lots of fun splashing, too.
The pool is so great! Not bad for the first swim of the season. Hooray!
The next day, it was still really, really hot. So I thought I'd try out my new pool. It looked like fun until...
Hey, what are all these squirts coming out?! You didn't say anything about my face getting wet! And why am I wearing a hat?!
Once I lost the ridiculous hat Mama made me wear, I realized that I could walk around a bit and not get my face too wet. Much better...
OK, so maybe I'm getting the hang of my new pool. I was quite refreshing and I could splash as much as I wanted. I guess I'll try it again sometime.
When we got home, the pool at our community's rec center was open so we thought we'd try out the squirt zone for kids. Except the squirts were super crazy (made for bigger kids, I think) so I was not too sure about trying it out. Dada was there so I thought we'd at least get a little wet...
Are you kidding?! There are buckets dumping water on us! Hey, little girl, watch out! This is too much for me!
Whew, that was intense. Everything's always better when Mama is there. Maybe we'll just stick to the pool next time.

Stay cool out there, people! See you next time...

Hats and Toothbrushes...Do These Go Together?

So I was winding down for bed the other night and I found this hat just lying around. So I thought I'd try it on. I don't ordinarily like hats or sunglasses or any head or eye wear on me or anyone else (I'm a purist, I guess) but this hat was fabulous so I wore it for a while.
Do you think it goes with my toothbrush? I don't know. I thought I'd check to see if I could walk, brush my teeth and wear a hat all at once...
Not so sure I'm going to make a habit of this but it sure was fun for one night. Don't expect me to become a fan of hats overnight. Adopting new things takes time, people. And I am a toddler after all.

See you again soon...

Mother's Day 2009...Better Late Than Never

Hi, Everyone!

So sorry we haven't posted in a while. I was sick with the flu last week (yucky!) so Mama was busy making me feel better and just did not have time to give you an update on my goings on.

So let's catch up...

On May 10, we celebrated Mother's Day. That's a day when we're supposed to make our Mamas feel extra special. On Saturday, Dada and I took Mama out to lunch and to pick out some comfort items at Brookstone. Pretty cool!

Then on Sunday, we had brunch with the Livingstons! Here I am with Mama at Mi Casita, Mimi and Pop's favorite Mexican joint.
Mother's Day is for Mimis, too! Here I am hamming it up with my Mimi. She's the best!
Here I am with Pop, too! He always makes me laugh!
Then Jack and his Mama and Dada arrived so the party really got started! Wow, Jack, is that fine beverage for you?! How about a sip, buddy?
And finally, we "attempted" to take a photo with Mimi but these things never quite go as planned. Mimi looks happy so I guess that's what counts, right?

Happy belated Mother's Day to all you Mamas, Grandmas, Great-Grandmas, Mimis and Tutus out there! See you soon...

The Big Baptism Day!

So the big day finally arrived and I soon learned more about this baptism thing. First you get godparents. That was an easy one. Mama and Dada chose Aunt Marisa and Uncle Mike and they said "yes" because they love me so much. Then you choose a place. Here we all at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. That's Mama's childhood church so it was special to be there. Now we just have to wait for Mass to begin.
At the beginning of Mass, Fr. Freddie came over to us and asked what we were there for and who I was. I was a bit nervous so I had to suck my thumb the whole time. Then everyone made the sign of the cross on my forehead. By the way, there was also a QuinciƱera that afternoon, too. I don't know too much about that but the ladies sure did look pretty. How Fr. Freddie made the whole thing work is amazing.
But back to me. So then we all came up to the alter and the adults stood for me and promised to help me grow into a good young person. Cool, huh? And check out my awesome little white suit. I'm cute, what can I say.
Then it was time for the water. I was a bit shocked at first but it was nice and warm so I didn't cry one bit.
Then Fr. Freddie consecrated me with oil. It was a bit, well oily, but smelled really nice.
Then Aunt Marisa lit my baptismal candle. It looked really cool so I tried to grab it. But she was quicker than me. Darn, maybe next time...
Then Dada held me up for everyone to see. They clapped for me. And I clapped, too.
Here I am with Tutu and Sir right after the ceremony. Wow, that was intense!
And here I am with my wonderful godparents. I don't have to get wet again, do I? Whew, that was close.
And here we all are with Fr. Freddie. Mimi and Pop are in the back row with Tutu and Sir. I'm feeling pretty special now and as Uncle Mike said, I definitely got my holy on.

Soooo, what do we do next? I keep seeing all the adults eating something when we're at Mass. I wonder what that is and why they don't share with me...I'll have to check into that one.

Thanks so much to everyone who came to my baptism and for sharing in this special day with us!

Visit from My Aunties

On Friday night, two of my aunties (Dada's sisters) came up to visit with me before bedtime. Auntie Darlene had not seen me since my birthday and was quite impressed by my new walking and talking skills. She also loves blowing raspberries on my tummy, too, which I love!
So they say Auntie Darlene is here all the way from Miami for my baptism on Saturday. Why haven't I heard anything about this and what is a baptism? I will have to get back to you on that one...
And of course my silly Auntie Nora was there. She is so funny! She was making me laugh just being there.

So after a fun evening with my aunties, I was off to bed to get some rest for the "big day."

Next post will be highlights from my baptism. Stay tuned...

I Ate ALL My Lunch!

Hi, everyone!

We had a pretty quiet weekend at our house so no new photos of me doing wacky things. But I had an excellent day at daycare yesterday that I want to share with you.

As many of you may know, I have a very narrow palette, meaning that I eat a few things regularly and very rarely try new things with success. What can I say, I have texture issues. Plus I'm a toddler so I'm supposed to be quirky. My teacher, Miss Magdalena—God bless her—has been working super hard to get me to try new foods like the other kids. Mama used to pack me a lunch but all the other kids ate the food that the school makes so I would protest and refuse to eat my packed lunch. So they all thought that if they offered me the school food I would succumb to the peer pressure and eat it. But this has not worked to the adults' advantages so far. Mama gets reports from Miss Magdalena like, "ate none" or "refused" or "no way." What can I say, I'm a complex toddler.

So cut to yesterday...Mama arrived and the director, Miss Edna, greeted her at the door with some serious smiles and said, "you won't believe what happened today?" Mama picked up my daily report and it said, "chicken nuggets: ate all, bananas: ate all, mashed potatoes: ate all, corn: ate none." Miss Magdalena finally got me to eat almost everything! She was so proud! "Three out of four is not bad," she told Mama. OK, so I did not eat the corn but veggies are definitely not my favorite so let's take this one step at a time, people. So Mama kissed me and hugged me and almost kissed Miss Magdalena, too. How embarrassing! So maybe I will eat almost everything today, too. You can never be too sure with us toddlers...

Oh, in the photo above I am eating snacks from my new Poo-Poo Platter (you know, it's the fun appetizer platter you get at Chinese restaurants...Mama will do anything to get me to eat). Mimi gave me this neat food tray for Valentine's Day and it has little compartments perfect for snacks! Smart Mimi! So Mama just keeps filling it with snacks that I like (you know crackers, yogurt melts, puffs, freeze dried fruits, etc.) and often gets me to try new healthy snacks without me really paying much attention. So I just walk over when I'm feeling the munchies and eat a few tidbits. What can I say, I've got all these adults wrapped around my tiny little finger. Hee, hee!

Have a super week, everyone! And happy fourth anniversary to Mama and Dada tomorrow!

Punk Rock Toddler?

I came home from daycare especially dirty on Wednesday afternoon. Hey, I'm a boy and I play hard outside so you'd expect me to get a bit dirty, right?

So my hair was REALLY sticky and yucky (Note from Mama: Thank GOD it was bath night! Wow!) so Dada thought I should try out a new look...
Am I a mohawk kind of guy? I'm not so sure. Check out the side view...pretty hip, right? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think...

Have a great weekend, my peoples! Rock on!
