Sharky the Cute, Cute Fishy

Last night, I decided to spend some of my birthday money on something I have been wanting for a few months: a cute, cute fishy. So Mommy, Daddy and I went to our local PetSmart to check things out.
There were A LOT of fish. It was a bit overwhelming for a three-year-old like me.

Here's a little video of me shopping for the perfect first pet. I didn't know what to choose...

There were lots of other animals at the pet store and I was easily distracted by the likes of birds, snakes, turtles and frogs. But I was there to get a fishy so I quickly got back on track.

After much discussion with the saleslady, we decided to keep it simple with my first pet and settled on a beta. We picked a nice blue one and I was off to give it a new home.

Here's a close up of my new friend, who I named Sharky. I thought maybe I could get a big, big fish like Pop-Pop, but I think little, little Sharky and I were meant for each other.

Back at home, Mommy set Sharky up in his new digs. We got him a heater for his aquarium, some rocks and a few plants so he would have a place to rest.

Hi, there, Sharky! I hope you like it here.

I wanted to pet him and hold him but Mommy says he has to stay safe and cozy in his bowl. I can look at him but I can't hold him. So I pet his bowl instead.

So there you have it...my very first pet! I hope he likes jelly fruities and popcorn as much as I do!
